5 is Fun

Last month my granddaughter Abby had an awesome birthday party and Dave & I were lucky enough to be there for it.  It was a surprise party.  I am not sure that at first Abby understood why all the people yelled surprise and released balloons when she walked into the Family Fun Center but she quickly caught on. We all had a wonderful time. It was so good to see family again.

Scrap Your Story Guest Design Team

I am so excited recently when Christy from Scrap Your Story contacted me and asked me if I would be a guest design team member for this week's challenge.  Of course I accepted and when I heard that the challenge this week was journaling I knew a week in my Project Life album would be the perfect project for the challenge.  Here is week #13 which included Easter Sunday.  (My week runs from Monday through Sunday)

Here is a close up of page 1:

The title card for this week is actually an Easter card that a dear friend of mine made and sent to Dave and I.  I thought it would be perfect to use.{Thanks Hope} As you can see I am very eclectic in my items I use on my Project Life pages.  Most of the papers, journaling cards and embellishment on this week came from Doodlebug's new collection Take Note which is PERFECT for PL pages.

Here is a close-up of page 2:

I hope you will join in on the challenge this week to add journaling to your layout.  People in the future when they are looking at your albums will thank you.  :)

Smile

Love, love, love this sketch of Heather Landry's that inspired my card:

I actually got the idea for this card right in the middle of a work day!  Can you imagine?  I was selling a homeowner some shingles for their roof and trying to patiently answer all their questions when all of a sudden, inspiration hit!!  LOL  I could barely wait to get home and make this card.

I am entering it in The Sampler Kit Club card sketch challenge
and
I am linking it up to the Serendipity theme over at Paper Issues.

The Match Game

Whenever I visit my grandkids I am loaded down with goodies for them.  One of the things I brought for my granddaughter Abby last month was a Rainbow Fish matching card game.  As soon as I gave it to her, she wanted to play it with me.  Of course she won. :)  Then she wanted her picture taken with Dave to celebrate.  I wanted to document this small moment in time with this page.  I used an assortment of Echo Park papers and this sketch from Artful Delight:

Nautical Birthday card

Have you noticed how popular the nautical trend is this spring?  I couldn't be happier since I have loved all things nautical for quite some time now.  I made this masculine nautical themed birthday card for my son who will be celebrating a birthday in two weeks.

I used this sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch:

I used the Nautical Breezes colors from this week's challenge at The Play Date Cafe:

I guarantee you that the color on my card is not a red but much more of an orange-y coral or terra cotta in real life.

I am also entering this card in My Craft Spot's Anything Goes challenge this week.

Miracle Mommas Design Sketch #35

I love this photo of my son and his sons from last winter and wanted to find just the right sketch and papers to use to scrap it.  I actually dug out a not so brand new collection from Echo Park called This  & That Charming and I just loved the papers and patterns.  Then Heather Landry posted this sketch for the DT to work with and I was in business!

I am excited and proud to be one of Heather's Miracles Momma Design Divas....the other gals are wonderfully talented and really inspire me.  Heathers sketches are awesome and so much fun to work with and she provides a free template of her sketches for those digital scrappers among us.

Check out the fun HERE.

Smile....Vacation is Coming...

We went to the Chicago area in March to celebrate my granddaughter Abby's 5th birthday and to see all the family.  It was a wonderful time even if my husband Dave was still recovering from pneumonia.  This is the first of the Project Life pages featuring the trip and I am sure I will be doing plenty of traditional layouts as well.  When I only get to see the grandkids once or twice a year, I have to take a lot of pictures and have a lot of fun....all of which I want to document so they can remember me and the time we spent together.

DT Call

There is a new challenge blog that will be starting up soon and I am really excited about it.  It is called About a Girl and the challenge will be to create projects featuring the girls in our lives.  As the grandmother of two beautiful, sweet and sassy granddaughters, I am all over this idea.  Check out the details HERE and why not throw your hat in the ring to be considered as a member of the DT??
(I did!)

Saying Goodbye {is so very hard}

The worst part of any trip to the midwest to see my family is saying goodbye.  My granddaughter and I both cried last summer so I was bound to make the goodbye last month more upbeat.  Abby, although she did not cry was not happy to see me leave.  Of course inside my heart was breaking and I have to admit to shedding a few tears in the car when we pulled away.  But I will be back...I promise.

Now and Forever

I have an online friend getting married this month.  I actually got a chance to meet her and her honey when they were donwn here on a trip a couple of years ago.  I am thinking this might be the first wedding card I have ever made ( I usually buy them) But I wanted to try my hand at one since I had this awesome sentiment from Paper Smooches.

I used this great card sketch from Mojo Monday:

and
Their challenge was to create a card using these colors:

Thank you for checking out my blog....I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

Happy Birthday Rachel

I had not seen my adorable niece Rachel in several years but I was lucky enough to see her on our recent trip to the Midwest. She is having a birthday this week and I wanted to make her a cute card to celebrate as she turns 11.  She is also a budding scrapbooker so I have a package of goodies heading her way as well.

I used DCWV's Celebrate collection and their March card sketch:

Wishing You Sunnier Days

I have a dear online friend who has a very sick family member and needs some encouragement.  I made this card for her and hope that I can brighten her day a bit.  I inked up my Simon Says Stamp Sunnier Days stamps for the first time and I used some adorable rain drop shaped bling from Little Yellow Bicycle along with this sketch from CAS{E} This Sketch:

In addition to the sketch challenge I am also entering this card in Lawnscaping's Embossing Challenge since I used my new Stampin' Up cloud embossing folder.

Spring has Sprung!

I got some action wobbles from a friend recently and decided to use them on this card to make my flowers "wobble" and create a little play on words for the sentiment "Spring has Sprung".  I love my new cloud embossing folder from Stampin' Up.  I used my Claire's ABCs from Lawn Fawn for the custom sentiment.
