Holiday Program 2013

My granddaughter Abby just entered kindergarten and had her Holiday Program a couple of weeks ago.  I made this page for her scrapbook using this sketch #47 from Sketch-N-Scrap:

I am also entering this layout in the Scrap Our Stash Sketch With Stash challenge.  Nearly everything on the page is at least a year old with the exception of the Lawn Fawn flair. I had to use 2 border punches so I used the large double scallop punch and the notebook edge punch.  For my third and other type of punch I used a corner rounder.

Thanks for checking out my blog...hope you are enjoy the holiday season.

Artful Delight Card Kit -- Live Well

I love the Paper Smooches stamp set that is included in the December Artful Delight Card Kit.  I used 2 sentiments on this card from 2 different Paper Smooches sets.  I rarely make New Year's cards but I love the idea.  New Year's is such a wonderful holiday....a brand new year to make new memories, needed changes and start off with a clean slate.

I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of you who stop by my blog and check out my creations....my you have a wonderful and prosperous new year.

Last Minute Gift Tags

Hello and Merry Christmas Eve eve!!  Tonight I am sharing some last minute gift tags I made this weekend. I started making Christmas gift tags a few years ago when I unexpectedly ran out of tags during a marathon gift wrapping session. I went into my craft room, pulled out my bucket of Christmas scraps and whipped up some really cute tags with just my leftover embellishments and scraps. I haven’t bought a package of tags since!  I love to layer on the bling too!  It is easy peasy and everyone loves to receive something personalized.  So go ahead and try it….make some tags!
PS I plan to save some of my favorites that I made for my husband and incorporate them later in my pocket page and traditional layouts.

I am entering this in Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Bling it On challenge.

Gift Bag and Matching Card

It tool me awhile but I finally found an awesome nail technician for my manicures and pedicures.  To show my appreciation to her I made a gift bag and matching card for her and filled it with Godiva chocolates and a wonderful smelling candle.

I found a brand new opened white ink pad in my stash that gave me the PERFECT chalkboard look for my sentiment.  The sentiment is from the Jingle All the Way set from My Craft Spot.  I LOVE there sentiment stamps set....you get so many different sentiments in each set....it really is quite the bargain.  I am entering this project in Kimberly's Wrap It Up Challenge on the My Craft Spot blog.  You can see the details and enter your own project by going HERE.

I am also entering this gift bag in Simon Says Stamp's Monday challange to Stamp Out 2013.

I used the Christmas Cheer collection from Imaginisce for the papers, snowflake die cut and the stacked sticker on the card. I just love the fun colors of this collection.  Sadly, I have almost used every bit of this collection except for a few large die cuts.

Well we are off to my in-laws to celebrate Christmas with them....my packages are nearly all wrapped and the Christmas projects/baking done.  Now it is time to relax and enjoy the next few days.

Merry Christmas!

JOY -- Artful Delight December card kit

Polka dots, chevron flair, rustic wood planking patterned paper...the December Artful Delight card kit has some of my very favorite items to create with.  The cardstock is thick and high quality.  You not only get a huge quantity of products in each kit, you get high quality and the newest trendy products.  That's a lot of bang for the buck.  And everything is so beautifully coordinated.  This card came together very quickly.....no more rummaging through 6 drawers to find the perfect ribbon or embellishment.  So what are you waiting for?  Sign up HERE today for a new subscription or pick up some recent kits.  You won't be sorry.

I am entering this is the Scrapping 4 Fun Anything Goes Challenge which you can see by clicking HERE

Happy Christmouse

This photo for the Paper Smooches Picture Perfect challenge has really inspired me today.  I love the red and white color combo with the splash of gray.  It inspired me to create this tag:

I added the strip of red to mimic the red ribbon streamers in the inspiration photo.  The grey tag is a recycled tag from something at work.  This stamp from Paper Smooches Santa Paws stamp set had never been inked up....how could that happen???  It is so dang CUTE.  I paper pieced the little Santa hat on the mouse because it just added to the cuteness factor.

In addition to the Paper Smooches Picture Perfect challenge I am also entering this cute tag in

Thanks for dropping in...enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Fleas Navidad

In honor of all the snow they are getting today up north in my hometown, I have decided to have a snow day today here in Florida. It's flannel jammies and slippers, hot chocolate and papercrafting along with some Christmas gift wrapping while listening to Christmas music. I be a happy girl.  This is my first project that I completed before 10am this morning.

I decided to make another project for the Paper Smooches Sparks Picture Perfect challenge.  I just ADORE this stamp and sentiment and had to make this Christmas card for my niece who runs her own pet-sitting service.  I used the Santa Paws stamp set and the color combo from this inspiration photo:

Thanks for stopping by my blog today and if it is cold and snowy where you are I hope you get to stay inside and enjoy it from the warmth of your home.

You Float My Boat

I have said it before and I will say it again....I LOVE anchors.  I love that this summer and even now they are very trendy.  I have bought everything I can get my hands on and can afford if it has an anchor on it.  So last summer sometime I saw this roller stamp with anchors on it and of course I bought it.  And since then (for several months) it has sat in my stash.  That is until recently when Charissa Miller (one of my team members on the Whimsical Twist design team) suggested that we  all use our Glitz roller stamps for a product spotlight.  I had fun making this card.  I used Versmark ink and silver embossing powder for my anchors to make my own background.  I just embraced the wonkiness instead of stressing about getting the anchors to all line up and stamp straight on my cardstock.  I also used my Studio Calico stamp with white embossing powder for the sentiment.  You can see the other projects on the Whimsical Twist blog today.

I have another one of these mini rollers from Glitz that has triangles on it and I am already planning a project using that one on a 12x12 layout.  If we would like to pick up a couple we have some in the shop at Whimsical Twist.

Thanks for stoppinb by my blog....I am so excited that it is Friday! I hope that even though it is Friday the 13th that it was still a good day for you.  Have a wonderful weekend.

Tags and Packages

I love paper.  Long before I started scrapping and card making I loved to wrap packages.  I guess that was my first exposure to playing with paper.  This year I decided to make my own tags which is what I will be doing this whole weeknd.  I love making tags because it is a small challenging canvas and I can be thrifty and use up scraps.  I do not mass produce tags...I make each one unique.  Pinterest has some awesome ideas for tags.  I was just checking out some ideas tonight.

Here is my favorite tag that I have made so far:

And this is the package that I used it on:

The package is for my daughter-in-law Amy.  Don't you just LOVE the chalkboard paper that I found at Target???  As soon as I saw it, I knew I would make some matching chalkboard style tags.

Here are a few more that I made a couple of nights ago.

I am entering my chalkboard tag in Pumpkin Spice's Tag challenge
and
What about you?  Are you making your gift tags this year?  If so, leave me a link to your tags so I can check them out.  I love getting new ideas.

Merry Christmas!

Wish Big

This is my second card that I made with the December Artful Delight Card kit.  One of the many things I love about the Artful Delight card kits is the Paper Smooches stamp sets that are often included.  I just love the sentiment set include in this month's kit and wanted to let the sentiment take center stage on this card.  I believe that there may be a few kits left.  Click HERE for details how you can get yours.

I used the current sketch from Freshly Made Sketches:

Thanks for joining me today....have a wonderful day and keep warm.

Silver and Gold

This card reminds me of that song in the Christmas animated classic "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" called "Silver and Gold"....I can hear Burl Ives singing it in my head right now. LOL

I am not a big fan of gold at all but I loved this 4x6 card with the gold embossed stars on it that I got with my Studio Calico Project Life December kit.  I knew it would make a great background for a Christmas card.  It is very pretty in real life....I just wish it had photographed better.

I am entering this card at the Frosted Designs Silver and Gold challenge.  You can see all the details HERE.

Thank you for stopping by my blog....hope your weekend was lovely.

Uber Cool

Teenage and pre-teen boys have got to be some of the hardest to design cards for.  Not quite adults and not quite kids....I really struggle to make something that my 12 year old grandson will not roll his eyes when he sees it. Hopefully this card meets with his approval...LOL  I actually came up with the sentiment myself...at least I think I did.  Sometimes at my age, I see something, forget I saw it and then remember it and think it was an original idea.  When really it was my mind bringing up something from the deepest darkest recesses...LOL.  Does that make sense?  Maybe I should stop rambling....

I used this sketch at Freshly Made Sketches for this card:
I dry embossed the panel with my Cuttlebug and the red and white patterned paper is from Echo Park. I stamped the sentiment with my Paper Smooches Alphadots and the "uber cool" saying is from the Paper Smooches Slang Gang stamp set. You can see all their awesome stamps HERE.  I was inspired by the colors of this inspiration photo from the current Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge:

Red and white are my absolute favorite colors to use when decorating for Christmas. Not only did I use the colors from the inspiration photo, I also added dots and twine.

Thanks for checking out my blog....I hope your holiday season is merry and bright so far.

Artful Delight December Card Kit -- Believe

I received my December kit from Artful Delight and immediately dug into it.  I made this card with the December sketch (created by my online bestie Suzanne Spokus) This card is 100% from the card kit including the embellishments used for the photo.  I turned the pennant pieces upside down and used them as Christmas trees.  One of them is decorated with the silvery twine in the kit and I used the red twinkle gemstones on another.  All three "trees" got a sparkly twinkle gemstone for their tree topper.  I used the sentiment "Believe in Yourself" from the Paper Smooches stamp set and just cut the stamp apart. I often do this to make my stamps more versatile....they are easy to piece back together and stamp as usual.

This kit is just loaded with goodies to make Christmas and winter themed cards.  I am going to really enjoy working with it and there are a few extra kits available.  Or you can subscribe and be assured to receive your kit every month.  For more info go HERE.

Thanks for stopping by tonight!

Week #32

Here is one of my pages for week #32 which also happened to be the week of my birthday.  Despite that, I had very few pictures from that week and most of them fit on this page.  I have a page 2 but except for one picture it is all filler cards.  I REALLY need to remind myself to take more pictures.

I am entering this page in Stuck On U Sketches....their current Project Life challenge is to add glitter.  Here is a close up of my birthday card with my age (gasp!) on it with glittery Thickers:

I am also entering this spread at Paper Issues current theme "My Happy Place" because I really do love the beach....that is why we live here.

Well, it is back to work tomorrow after having last week off.  Only 6 years and 2 months until retirement...LOL!!  Thanks for checking out my blog.

'Tis the Season

I love chevrons and flair and faux stitching.  So I took all three and made a card.  I used a sentiment from SRM stickers....I LOVE their stickers and I am almost out of them.  I used this sketch from Seize the Sketch:

I am also entering this card at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Anything Goes Challenge

Thanks for stopping in and checking out my blog.  I will be back tomorrow with a Project Life page.

Secret Santa Gift Box and Card

I am in a Secret Santa gift exchange on one of my Design Teams.  I wanted to make a special gift box and matching card for the gift so this is what I came up with.  I used nearly the last of my beautiful Bo Bunny holiday collection from a few years ago.  Sniff, sniff......I am literally down to just scraps now.

For the card, I used the current sketch from Freshly Made Sketches:

You Go Girl -- Artful Delight Card Kit

I just absolutely loved working with this month's Artful Delight card kit. This is my 4th card and I barely put a dent in the kit.  I made a gatefold card and then I cut a window in the front of the card with my Cuttlebug and Spellbinders.  That was a brand new technique for me.  It was a little tough turning the handle of the Cuttlebug and I was afraid I was going to break it but it is good and sturdy and it didn't nreak and I LOVE the result.  This is definitely something I will do again and again.

Check out the Artful Delight blog today -- there is an awesome giveaway that Leanne is sponsoring.

I am entering this card at the Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes Challenge.

Good luck and Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Selfie

The news last week included the little blurb that the word "selfie" has been named the word of the year by Oxford Disctionary.  So I decided to use that to title this page of me.   I rarely do pages of myself but decided to because it is important to include ourselves in our scrapbooks.

I used this sketch from The Memory Nest and the twist was to use a selfie.

I am also entering this page in Scrap Our Stash challenge to use only paper from 6x6 paper pads. And to include 6 of something on your page.  I have 6 enamel dots on my page and all the papers (except the aqua cardstock) are from Dear Lizzy's Polka Dot Party which I have had for sometime and never used.  The enamel dots have been living in my drawer for awhile also.

Edited 8/13/15 to add:  I am linking this page up to the current issue at Paper Issues -- It's All About the Face

Thanks for checking out my blog....I have several other projects to share with you this week.  I am on vacation  (staycation, actually) this week with the hubby.  He just got the new Xbox One and is breaking that in so I get plenty of time this week to be creative.

Seasons Tweetings

I love my Lawn Fawn stamps and I LOVE to participate in Lawnscaping's Challenges.  This challenge to use polka dots is right up my alley.  I wanted to use my new set of stamps that feature these cute little birdies and awesome punny sentiment so I whipped up this card for the polka dot challenge.  The brown polka dot paper (from Lawn Fawn's Dewey Decimal System paper collection) is my attempt at a tree trunk and the clouds were also paper punched from the same collection.  My hubby and I share our home with three tropical birds -- Max, Eko and Lola so this is going to be a favorite stamp of mine for a long time.

Thanks for stopping blog today.....my vacation this week is in full swing so I will have plenty of projects to share with you.

Use-It Tuesday Guest Designer

I am thrilled today to be the guest designer for the Use-It Tuesday Anything Goes challenge.  I used all scraps of paper on this Thanksgiving card for family in North Carolina.  I punched the branches with my Martha Stewart branch punch.  The leaves are punched with a little tiny oak leaf punch that I have owned for 6-7 years.  It was one of my first acquistions when I started scrapping.  The twine has also been in my stash since I picked a big ball of it up at a thrift store a couple of years ago.  I found the sentiment in with my fall stash and it is from a stamp set that I do not even own anymore!!.

Why don't you get out some items that you have had in your stash awhile and link up a project?  You could be the next guest designer.

Thanks for stopping by.

Whimsical Twist Photo Challenge

I am busy these days making Christmas cards.  Just when I thought I was done with all the cards, my Christmas list grew!  My husband has "found" several old friends from Facebook so the list keeps growing.  But I love making Christmas cards so when I heard that the new Whimsical Twist challenge was going to be to create a project with an odd sized picture....something other than the normal 4x6 that most of us use in our scrapping......I decided to make a photo Christmas card.  I usually make a few of these fun cards every Christmas.

The picture was taken of my hubby and I on one of our recent trips to the Florida Keys.  On this card I even included the year on my little wooden banner.  I used the sketch over at Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday challenge blog:

The "Warm Thoughts" sentiment is from a new stamp set of mine from Simon Says Stamp called Handwritten Sentiments.

I hope you will enter the challenge and break out of the 4x6 habit......try an new size picture on your project and link it up HERE.....you could win a $15 credit to the Whimsical Twist shop!  AND there is a sale going on in the shop right now:

So hop on over and get some goodies for yourself or as a Secret Santa gift.

I am linking up this project to Paper Issues My Happy Place challenge.  The picture on this card was taken in the Florida Keys which is definitely one of my happy places and I am next to my wonderful hubby which is my happiest place of all.

Baby It's Cold Outside

I spent a good portion of the day today making cards.  I completed 4 and this is one of them.  I love the big glittery snowflake and used my new stamps from A Muse Studio.  The set is called "It's a Wonderful Life" and I heat embossed the sentiment with silver embossing powder.  That just might be my new favorite powder to emboss sentiments with.  It is lovely.

I am entering this card in Festive Friday's last challenge for this year.  It is a choose your own challenge and I chose a color challenge of red, silver and white.  Those are also the colors that I decorate inside my house with at Christmas.

I am also linking this up to Paper Issues's Christmas theme -- It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas.

Thanks for stopping by my blog....I will be back tomorrow perhaps with another project.  Have a wonderful Sunday.

First Day of Kindergarten

My granddaughter Abby started kindergarten a couple of months ago and doesn't she look thrilled in this picture???  LOL  We have a real family where the kids don't always smile and aren't exactly thrilled about the first day of school or getting her picture taken!!  It took her awhile to get acclimated but she is doing well now in school and getting into the swing of things.

I used Echo Park's Paper & Glue Collection and this sketch from My Scraps and More Sketches:

I am also entering this page in Frosted Designs 11 challenge -- I used 4 of the 11 embellishments:
a star (on top of the schoolhouse)
a circle (the cork under the owl)
stitching (around the outer edge)
and
the banner (under the photos)

Thanks for checking out my blog....I am on vacation for the next 8 days so I hope to be sharing plenty of projects with you.

Thank You (to a wonderful co-worker)

I have had the same day job (kind of) for 15 years.  I have worked in 3 different states and 2 different positions.  I have been through a buy-out of the original company that I worked for by our largest competitor.  But one thing has remained the same....I work with ALL MEN.  Well, I had one lady that I worked with for a year or so in South Carolina before we transferred to Florida.  But I added them up recently and in 15 years I have worked with 63 men and one woman.  However I do have contact with other women in the company (in our branches and in corporate)  One woman, Jane, has always been extremely helpful to me and so I wanted to send her this card.

When I make cards, I ususally always make them FOR someone.  It is just more personal that way.  I knew this card was for Jane as I was making it and I got an email from her yesterday that it brightened her day.  Mission accomplished.

I used my awesome November card kit from Artful Delight for this card and I even adapted their layout sketch to fit this card.

I believe that there are still a few card kits left....if you hurry, you can grab one!!  Get all the details HERE.
