Celebrate.

I scrap totally out of order and deciding on what pictures I am going to use is a very random thing.  It depends on the colors of the pictures and papers I want to use and my mood among other things.  These pictures were from the night before our Vegas wedding 9+ years ago and I just now scrapped them.  But I love how everything came together for this page.  I used Basic Grey's new collection PB&J papers and the alphas for the title are from an older BG collection Nook & Pantry but they matched very well.  One of my favorite color combos is aqua and red.  I also used Paper Smooches "LOVE" sentiment stamp and heat embossed it on my journaling card and the flowers are from my favorite Etsy shop Precocious Paper.

I used this awesome sketch from Basic Grey:

He Loves Comics

My son Adam has loved comic books from the time he was about 6 or 7 years old.  He still loves them and has quite a collection amassed.  Now his sons share his love of comic books.  I wanted to document this picture of 10 year old Jacob lost in a graphic world of super heroes.  I used all older stash for this layout.  I almost squealed when I found the little comic book embellishment as it has Spiderman on the cover and a bunch of blank pages on which I wrote my journaling for this page.

I used this fabulous sketch from My Creative Sketches:

Much Needed Getaway

I have been waiting to scrap this picture until I had just the right papers to go with it and when I recently got this new collection from Echo Park, I knew it would be perfect for this picture of my son and daughter in law on their getaway to Orlando a year and a half ago.  Dave and I kept Abby so they could get some much needed R & R and I guess they really enjoyed themselves since 9 months later little Isabelle was born!!

I used Sketch #81 from Sketches in Thyme:

I also made that cute little twine flower with the brad in the center with my Caribbean twine from The Twinery so I am entering this page in the following 2 challenges:

The Paper Bakery -- handmade embellishment
Frosted Designs -- Fabulous Friday challenge -- make your own embellishment

Hi Sweetie

I just love the ombre trend lately.  In case you are unfamiliar with the term ombre it means having colors or tones that shade into each other or varying degrees of intensity of the same color.  When I saw the ombre challenge at Scraputante I knew I wanted to try it and I am pretty happy how this card turned out.

I am also entering this card in the following challenges:
CAS-ual Fridays -- use pink challenge
My Craft Spot -- cool treats challenge
Getting Cricky -- summertime challenge

Tough Guys Drink Water

Love this picture of my "tough guy" grandson Cole.  The title actually comes from the comment my son Adam made on Facebook under this picture and I thought it would be the perfect title. I used Echo Park's Little Boy collection and this inspiring sketch from The Sampler Kit Club:

Change in Latitude, Change in Attitude

I went shopping in my own stash last night and came up with this awesome die cut sheet of paper by Jenni Bowlin that was perfect for a quick weeknight page with a favorite picture of Dave and I on our recent trip to the Florida Keys.  Title is courtesy of Jimmy Buffet.

I am entering it in Bird is The Word's "Change" challenge.

Dad

My father-in-law served in the Marines and was stationed in Germany in the 1960's.  My husband recently retouched a bunch of family photos and I printed them up.  I used 3 of the military pictures on this layout along with paper and embellishments from Authentique's Glory collection.  I misted the brown kraft paper with some red Smooch Spritz and even masked some stars.  I used sketch #80 from Sketches in Thyme:

Sweet Friend

While digging through my large collection of scrapbooking stash I came across an awesome package of October Afternoon summer-themed chipboard elements.  I found this lemonade stand and knew it would be perfect for a summertime card for a sweet online friend of mine. The "friend" sentiment  and card base is from Stampin' Up.  The ribbon and yellow patterned paper is from my stash.  I love using my stash up.

I was inspired by this photo from the Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog....the lemonade stand just jumped out at me:

I used this sketch from Card Positioning Systems (just flipped it upside down):

Great Outdoors -- Snow May 2011

In May of 2011 we went to Colorado and visited my dad for a long weekend.  On Memorial Day we drove up to Este Park and drove Trail Ridge Road through Rocky Mountain National Park.  It was not only breathtaking....it was also COLD and it snowed. We hadn't seen it snow in nearly 10 years so I had to scrap the event.  This die cut paper I used I actually bought in a little scrapbook store I found in Estes Park.

I used this sketch from Scrapfit's Challenge #69:

Summertime

There is a  color challenge this month on my favorite Yahoo Group Scrappin'-n-Chattin' to use teal, red and yellow on a layout.  It had me stumped for awhile until I pulled this piece of teal cardstock out of my stash (I swear to you it is teal although it looks blue in this photo) Then I found the sheet of red barn looking paper and the rest fell into place.  Papers and embellishments are from October Afternoon.  The photo is from my son Adam featuring his son Cole and his niece Abby (half of my wonderful grandchildren) on this past Memorial Day.  The colors in the photo coordinated well with the papers...I love when that happens.

This sketch from Artful Delight stumped me for awhile as well but I got the idea to make pinwheels for the circle elements on the sketch and love the end result.  Here is the sketch I used:

The deadline to enter the sketch contest is June 23rd so there is still time to be inspired by this sketch and upload your entry.  Go HERE for all the deets.

Love and Best Wishes

My in-laws will be married 47 years in just a couple of weeks.  Isn't that amazing?  To celebrate I made them this anniversary card using my new Paper Smooches Sentiment set called "Simply Said".  The papers, buttons and heart embellishment are all Bo Bunny and I used their June card sketch:

You can see the details on their blog HERE.  You have until the end of the month to create a card using Bo Bunny supplies and link it up with me for the chance to win a new collection.  Good luck!

Be Strong

I live 1000 miles from my grandchildren....a fact that pains me on a daily basis.  Not only do I miss experiencing their childhoods with them I am also afraid that the impact that I leave on their lives will be dimished because I just do not get much time to spend with them.  So every once in awhile I feel the need to "preach" to them on a scrapbook page.  Actually it is hopefully just my imparting some wisdom to them.  I kind of think that is a grandparent's most important role (along with lots and lots of hugs and presents!!) I tried to share a bit of comforting wisdom and encouragement with my nearly 11 year old grandson.  I hope someday he will read the words and feel my love and concern for him....even after I am long gone.  Isn't that why we scrap? It is for me....I want to leave behind not just cute papers and embellishments documenting life but also to leave a piece of me with my family.  Now that my mom and grandparents are gone I wish I had more to remember them by....their handwriting, their wisdom and their humor.  I try to put all of that into my pages for my family.

I used the wonderful Genuine collection from Authentique for this layout along with their June sketch:

All the sketch challenge details are on their blog -- and they have a card sketch too!  The details can be seen HERE.  I am definitely going to have to work with that this month.  I just got a new 6x6 paper pad from the brand new Fresh collection and I am dying to try it out!

You still have a couple of days to enter my giveaway....for details go HERE.  I will pick and post a winner at 6pm EST on Friday June 15th.
Thanks!

Thanks!

I was challenged to do some masking and decided to mask the clouds on this card.  My technique with the fingertip daubers and ink needs a little refining but  this was my first attempt. I loosely followed this sketch from Paper Smooches and used their sentiment stamp. I love their stamps and you can check out all their sets by going HERE for more details.

I am entering this card in the Paper Smooches Sparks challenge.

I think I will also enter this card over at Cas-ual Fridays Polka Dot challenge since I used polka dot paper on the bird and the grass.

Thanks for checking out my blog......check THIS post out for a giveaway that I am sponsoring.
